Capuchin Monasteries in the Diocese of Litoměřice between 1900 and 1950

This thesis aims to present six Capuchin monasteries in the Litoměřice diocese in the first half of the 20th century. The focus is on the internal workings of each convent: education, building activities, equipment and related communication with other institutions or persons. The history of the monasteries itself is preceded by introductory chapters introducing the history of the Capuchins in the Czech lands and the development of the relations of the Catholic Church with the various state formations that replaced each other in our territory in the first half of the 20th century. An important chapter is also devoted to important personalities, with shorter medallions presenting religious, Quardians and other persons who have made a significant contribution to the modern history of these six convents. In connection with the monasteries of the Litoměřice diocese, themes such as the postoloprt massacre after second World War, the "K" action. It is also necessary to briefly mention the current state of the monasteries and their use.
The Iconography of St. Francis during the 17th and the 18th Century

The diploma thesis deals with the iconography of selected works of St. Francis in the 17th and 18th centuries in Bohemia. The work is focused mainly on the paintings that were created and were associated with the development of begging orders during the Reformation of the Church. The first part is devoted to the life and legend of St. Francis, which is the basis for the subsequent processing of individual images. An integral part of the work is also the topic of the origin and development of the begging orders that caused the depiction of St. Francis. Specifically, Franciscans, Minorites and Capuchins. An important chapter is also the piety of the Czech lands in the Baroque period, which demonstrates the revival of the veneration of St. Francis during the 17th and 18th centuries in Bohemia. All the above-mentioned parts provide the basis for the following chapters on specific illustrations. The iconography of the individual scenes is first described in a general depiction, including the world's most important examples. A large part of the work is devoted to individual works associated with the Czech environment. The most represented depictions are Stigmatization of St. Francis, Ecstasy, The Porciunculus Miracle or his Death. Last but not least, the work will focus on the monastery lunette cycles...

The capuchin friars in the service of the art in early Baroque Bohemia set out for the purpose of research to the neglected theme of the Capuchin brothers - painters on the border between Mannerism and the Baroque era. This phenomenon in painting, which is not only characteristic for the order of the Capuchins, but also of other ecclesiastical orders, has never been more comprehensive. The Capuchin brother Paolo Piazza came to the Czech lands with first capuchin brothers; in his paintings he is inspired of the Venetian school of the 16th century. He was a versatile painter, he created not only painting on canvases, but also made wall paintings and his painting manuscript was not uniformly defined. Paolo Piazza worked in the capuchin monasteries in Prague and Brno during the reign of Rudolph II, for the emperor himself he created several artworks. Piazza's work has also been preserved in the engravings of the Sadeler family. The area Most was mentioned for the first time in the 10th century. There were many monasteries, churches and other religious monuments founded. Most of them were destroyed during the 2nd half of the 20th century due to coal mining. This thesis is devoted to the history of the chosen religious monuments, particularly in the 2nd half of the 20th century, and also the current state of the religious monuments. The History of the Capuchin Monastery in Žatec

This work aims to present the Capuchin Monastery's history in Žatec, from its foundation in 1676 to its abolition in 1950. The monastery history itself is preceded by a presentation of the Capuchin order and a brief history of Žatec with a focus on the development of religion in the town. Within monastic history, important personalities connected with this monument are also presented. The next part deals with the artistic decoration of the Monastery Church of the Coronation of the Virgin Mary and the works of art of the monastery itself, which have been preserved in other institutions. At the end of the work is shown the current state of the whole monastery complex and its future plans.
